INTERNATIONAL TRADE DECOMPOSITION.docxBy Alfonso Llanes
ABSTRACTMay 11, 2017This paper will take a different approach to analyze the various components of trade and transportation from the perspective of the tangible complements of the industry such as the association of geographic links and commodities to weights and measures as well as time and distance from a pairing of origin and destination. Also, a multivariate freight cost analysis based on service methods for either modes of surface, air or water transportation. The focus of the paper will be on the units utilized to quantify either amounts of merchandise or units of service methods. By using minimalistic and standardized units and technique of the 21st Century to study big data such as single value decomposition (SVD) widely used in image recognition software for digital analysis. These methods have proven to be very useful when massive amounts of data need to be analyzed and minimized without incurring in large errors because of the disparity in the data inputs. Simultaneous correlation of matrices using SVD is a very effective method for interpreting large amounts of data with a minimum amount of elements. Three case studies will be introduced to illustrate methods, measurements, data points etc., and the underlying issues that generate such data for argument made here.
